Ben Atkinson-Foster


Ben Atkinson-Foster is an award-winning creative designer, writer and broadcaster from Lincolnshire with a broad range of interests that stretch across the creative industries from design and development to radio, writing and performance.

Ben is the author of two novels, the presenter of a syndicated country music programme which airs on stations across the UK, and an established web designer and developer, with a number of national and international websites and mobile apps to his name. He is currently the Digital Education Developer for the College of Arts at the University of Lincoln where he supports and promotes the adoption of digital tools for teaching and learning.

As a graphic designer, Ben has collaborated with businesses across the UK and internationally on their marketing and promotion and specialises in working with theatre companies and charities. As a developer, he is proficient in a range of computer programming languages from HTML5, CSS3, Javascript and PHP and has designed innovative mobile apps and interactive digital stories for children which re-invent the medium of radio drama. Much of this work has been distributed by his production company, Tall Lime.

Ben has been a voice on UK radio for over 10 years, predominantly within the genre of country music, and his radio show continues to be enjoyed by listeners around the world.

When it comes to storytelling though, the written word is Ben’s first love and to date he has written two novels, Walking on Cinders and The Kraken’s Curse, published independently between 2008 – 2010.

Ben holds two degrees in Media from Lincoln, a First Class BA(Hons) degree in Media Production (2013) and an MA Degree in Digital Media (2015) and has previously been awarded by the institution for his Outstanding Contribution to the Lincoln School of Film and Media and as Intern of the Year for his creative design work in the year that followed his undergraduate graduation.

His training and experience within the creative industries is widespread and includes being an alumnus of the prestigious BBC Production Talent Pool, a six-month sabbatical studying and teaching at the Minnesota State University Moorhead in the USA, founding and managing a student radio station, Brayford Radio, and several years at the helm of his own production company.

In his spare time, Ben enjoys playing the guitar and can often be found with his nose in a good book. He loves cycling, regularly takes the stage in amateur theatre and is currently challenging himself to learn Spanish… Las lecciones est√°n yendo bien!
